The DAKAR Rally needs no introduction. This event, known to all, attracts hundreds of drivers every year willing to fight against themselves to achieve one of the greatest challenges in motorsport discipline: reaching the finish line of the toughest race in the world.

WHAT IS THE DAKAR?
Pons Road to DAKAR | The PONS Rallysport team, led by Eduard Pons, has set itself the goal of competing in the 2025 edition of the DAKAR Rally.
The Dakar is a rally raid. It is made up of one stage a day with at least one “special” each, on- or off-road. The total distance traveled reaches 7891 kilometers (4727 crono). The event is spread over 13 tough stages.
The races require navigation, which is done through a roadbook provided by the organizers and distributed at the start of each stage. Therefore, the route is kept secret until the roadbook is delivered to the team.
The starting order of the races is set according to the time taken in the timed section of the day before.
THE DAKAR IN NUMBERS
DRIVER | EDUARD PONS
Born in Lleida in 1968, Eduard Pons is a versatile driver with extensive experience in different disciplines of national and international motorsport. Passionate about motor sports and adventure, he started motor racing through Rallyes in 1986, in the Lloret-Costa Brava Rally.
His main focus has been gravel rallies, running in multiple editions of the Spanish Championship in this specialty. During the last 3 years Eduard has started his career in Cross Country, running in the 2021 All Terrain National races and jumping in 2022 to the Cross Country Baja World Championship.
His experience extends to the world of circuits, participating in the Seat León Cup, endurance races on circuits such as the 24 Hores de Catalunya, Hill Climbs, Asphalt Rallies, Gravel Rallies and Rally-Raid.
Along with motorsports, he shares enthusiasm and regularly practices sports such as cross-country athletics, mountain biking and alpine skiing.

CODRIVER | JAUME BETRIU
Known for his extensive record in the world of two wheels, Jaume Betriu is a 36-year-old enduro rider from Coll de Nargó (Lleida) who has a lot of experience in off-road competitions.
Apart from his multiple national and international titles in the discipline of enduro, his great performances in the tough DAKAR Rally also stand out. Betriu was the best rookie (Rookie of the year) in the 2020 edition and finished 14th overall, also winning the Marathon category.
In the following season he improved even more his result in the Dakar test with a twelfth final position among motorcycle riders.
His good knowledge of mechanics and his great orientation and strategy during the races make him a key piece for the team despite his short career as a co-pilot. Jaume joined the PONS rallysport team before contesting the Baja España-Aragón.

The NASSER RACING team is led by Qatari driver Nasser Al-Attiyah, who has 5 overall victories in the DAKAR Rally and has accumulated multiple World Champion titles in Cross-Country and Rally Raid. This extensive experience gives his racing team the best knowledge in this tough discipline, which is a guarantee of success when facing a challenge as complicated as the DAKAR.
With twenty participations in the toughest event in the world under his belt, the Qatari driver has also participated in the development of his team’s Taurus T3 Max by competing with it in several international events.

THE CAR | TAURUS T3 MAX
The Taurus T3 Max in the FIA Challenger category (formerly T3) has a turbocharged engine and is equipped with an FIA roll cage and a fuel tank with a maximum capacity of 130 litres, as well as other key performance upgrades.
It was the winner of its category in the last DAKAR Rally 2024 thanks to its versatility and reliability, with a very good cost/performance ratio. These are vehicles capable of ranking among the first in the general classification of the toughest event in the world.
This vehicle has shown great potential, with it we achieved absolute victory in the last Baja Greece!

INTERNATIONAL IMPACT
The DAKAR Rally is one of the most followed motor sports events in the world. With a duration of 15 days, the 2024 season edition generated up to 3,000 hours of images that reached a total of 190 countries thanks to 135 accredited media coming from 34 different countries.
The official website of the race accumulated more than 11 million visits during the event, while the social networks of this event don’t stop growing, adding more than 6 million followers around the world.

NATIONAL IMPACT
In Spanish territory the coverage is very wide and is led by TVE and TV3.
The first one broadcasts the images of each stage on its well-known ‘Telediario’, as well as ‘L’Informatiu’, RNE, RTVE Play and RTVE’s social networks. The Teledeporte channel has a special daily program at 10:00 p.m. that lasts more than an hour.
For its part, Esport 3 broadcasts two daily programs in Catalan. The first of these is “Dakar Express”, during midday, while a special begins at 8:45 p.m., also broadcast for more than an hour.
The specials of both channels, Teledeporte and Esport3, pay special attention to all the Spanish drivers participating, with interviews and exclusive images.
